Assignment Modification
Instead of Blog Post #14 Assignment Due 12/5 we will all comment on Yasmine's Blog. She is in Mr. Pierre's class and has posted a lot. Shellie Miller suggested we inundate her with comments from EDM310. So that is what we will do. I have created a shared Google Doc called Special Yasmine Assignment Due 12/5. At the right hand side of her blog you will see a list of her recent posts. On the Google Docs you will have a number. Count down the list of Recent posts and leave a comment. This is duplicated on the existing C4K assignment doc as well.
We'll see what her response is!
Thanks Shellie for the suggestion.
Blog Assignment #14 due 12/5 is replaced by this assignment.

I just wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to Dr. Strange and all of his students for the dozens of comments they left on Yasmine's blog. I am her teacher and I know that my entire class will be thrilled tomorrow when I bring to their attention the commenting that your class did. I have spent a lot of time telling students this year about how exciting it is for their writing to reach an enormous, global audience through the use of blogging. This "assignment" of yours only serves to further illustrate that point. I urge you to not only read Yasmine's blog but to check out all of my wonderful and talented 5th graders' blogs as well! Thank you again, your efforts are deeply appreciated!

Man, it was fun reading her blog! I like the freedom she has to write what she is experiencing. I think there is definitely value in free-write. Her interests are so clear, and her talents seem to be bubbling to the surface as well. I wonder how much self-discovery happens in this type of blogging process. I guess I will just have to follow to find out!
ReplyDeleteYes, she is an extraordinary young lady and a brilliant writer! Our class is always interested in communicating with others in different ways to share our experiences using web 2.0 in a 5th grade classroom.

Thanks, Mr. St. Pierre. Yasmine's blog was the last assignment for the Fall 2010 term. The Spring class will begin Commenting4Kids about February 1. Expect some visits to your entire class!
